The Base Reading Speed (BRS) for a student represents their current reading speed. Drills can pace them at higher speeds relative to their personal BRS. The BRS for a student is determined from their most recent ΓÇ£qualifiedΓÇ¥ self-paced reading comprehension test result. Their BRS is the speed in which they read the story while taking the test. Test results are ΓÇ£qualifiedΓÇ¥ using the filter criteria specified below.
Examples of why you may want to filter low or high speeds:
Extremely low speeds may result if a student walks away fro the computer while they were taking a timed self-paced test. Extremely high speeds may result if they did not actually read the story and if they quickly hit the Done button while the story was being presented.
